Join me and four other community leaders for a dialogue about navigating today’s challenges with hope and optimism. Community leaders include Gloria Burgess, author, poet, and leadership consultant; Jerry Large, Seattle Times Columnist; Peter Morgan, Executive VP of Group Health; Maria Ramirez, Executive Director of Compaña Quetzal, and Michael Ramos, Executive Director of the Church Council of Greater Seattle. These leaders will share their perspectives on the topic, “Standing with Hope in the Face of Despair,” followed by opportunities for reflection and dialogue at tables. Hosted by the Washington Center for Courage & Renewal, the sixth annual public program focuses community attention on the intersection of our inner lives, professional work, and a strong democracy. The current challenges faced by our community, our nation, and our world make this an especially timely topic. Join us: April 19, 1:30 -4:00pm, Seattle Pacific University, Upper Gwinn Hall. Advanced registration required: Washington Center for Courage & Renewal. We hope you will join us.
As the Center for Courage & Renewal reminds us, “When we reconnect who we are with what we do, we approach our lives and our work with renewed passion, commitment, and integrity.”*
* Since 1997, the Center for Courage & Renewal has helped foster personal and professional renewal through retreats that offer the time and space to reflect on life and work. These retreats, called Courage to Teach®, Courage to Lead®, or Circles of Trust®, are led by skilled facilitators and make use of poetry and stories, solitude, reflection, and deep listening. Developed with author, educator, and activist Parker J. Palmer, PhD, and the Fetzer Institute, this approach was initially created to renew, sustain, and inspire public school teachers. Educators remain at the heart of our mission, but retreats are also offered to those in serving professions such as health care, clergy, and law, as well as to anyone yearning to become more wholehearted in their life and work.
The Center for Courage & Renewal is a 501 (c)(3) educational non-profit organization.
