As we experience the economic, social, and political turmoil across our country and around the world… as we expect and ask for honesty, integrity, and innovation from our leaders… what are we asking of ourselves?
Now, more than ever, each of must step up and be responsible. Now, more than ever, each of us must focus less on ourselves and more on being of service beyond ourselves.
We each have unique gifts that no one else can offer. Especially at this time in world history, we need to use our innate creativity as we approach new challenges. We must boldly dare to wear our soul on the outside so that we can bring forth the best that is within us–not merely for ourselves–but so that we can be of service to others and ensure a bright tomorrow for the generations that will follow us.
Inside each of us are marvelous new worlds yearning to be born. What’s stirring in you? How are you using your gifts?
Here are three things you can do today to ensure your gifts are being shared:
- Contact your local school and offer to share your expertise with a class of elementary, middle, or high school students. Most teachers will be delighted and will welcome you with open arms!
- Volunteer to tutor a student a few hours a week in a subject that comes easily to you, but not to them–history, English, math, science.
- Call a friend who is a single parent and offer to babysit for their children once in a while. They will love you for it!
When you help someone else, you light the way for others to do the same… so they too can make a difference and make the world a better place.
Let me know what are you doing to use your gifts and to be of service to others… and forward this post to others as well.
